FAI Primary Schools Soccer 2026

Bohola National School enjoyed a wonderful and memorable year in the FAI Primary Schools 5-a-side Soccer Competition with two boys teams and one girls team proudly representing the school at the Area finals. All three teams played with tremendous skill, enthusiasm and sportsmanship and were a fantastic credit to our school. One of the boys teams progressed to represent Bohola NS at County level. The boys had a fantastic day, winning all four of their matches against Ballyheane NS, Killeen NS, Gortskehy NS and Scoil Naomh Pádraig. Their superb teamwork, determination and footballing ability saw them crowned Mayo County Champions - a truly outstanding achievement for the school. We were incredibly proud to see the boys lift the Mayo A Cup trophy and qualify for the Connacht Finals.

The boys went on to the Connacht Finals, where they once again represented Bohola NS with enormous pride and determination. They got off to a flying start, winning their first three games against schools from Galway, Sligo and Leitrim before narrowly losing the fourth game by just a single goal to a school from Roscommon. Their performances secured a place in the Connacht Final against Scoil Cholmáin Tuairíní from Galway. The final was a fast-paced and exciting encounter. Bohola NS conceded early to go 1–0 down but showed incredible character and resilience to battle back and secure a deserved 1–1 draw. Unfortunately, the game went to penalties, where luck was just not on our side on this occasion.

The boys finished the day as Connacht A Cup Runners-Up - an incredible achievement and one that everyone in the school community is immensely proud of. The standard, determination and teamwork displayed throughout the competition were exceptional. A huge credit must go to all of the players, teachers and supporters for the effort, preparation, commitment and spirit shown throughout the entire competition.
